Stake Casino Review

Last checked

Stake is a crypto casino and sportsbook run by Medium Rare N.V. under a Curaçao Gaming Authority licence. The lobby carries at least 24 house games, a large slot shelf with its own Enhanced RTP row, and a sportsbook on the same balance. There is no welcome match on the official pages. The value sits in the VIP ladder, the races and a Challenges board that pays prizes for big multipliers. The terms decide more here than on most sites, so we read them clause by clause and quote the numbers below.

How to register at Stake

The Register button opens one modal with three fields and one tick box. The terms ask for more later. Clause 4.2 names full name, date of birth and address as part of the account.

  1. Press RegisterTop right, next to Sign In. The modal opens over the lobby.
  2. Enter an emailUse an address you control. Verification requests and payout notices go there.
  3. Pick a usernameIt is your public name on the site. The Challenges board, for one, shows the name of the account that posted each card.
  4. Set a password, then turn on 2FAClause 4.17 recommends two-factor login. Set it up before the first deposit.
  5. Referral code, optionalCollapsed under the password field. A code links the account to whoever issued it. Leave it empty if you have no reason to use one.
  6. Tick the box and registerOne line confirms you are 18 or older and accept the Terms. Continue With Google and See More Options open the other sign-up routes.

The Create an Account modal. Email, username and password, an optional referral code, one tick box, and the Google route under it.

Register with your real details. Clause 4.3 lets Stake suspend an account and void winnings from deposits when the data is incomplete or wrong. One account per person: under clause 4.9 a second account can see every balance retained.

Welcome offer and what pays instead

We found no welcome match on the official pages. Review sites sell their own Stake deals with their own codes, and those deals do not agree with each other. A 200% headline belongs to the site that prints it. Check what is live in the promotions tab of your own account before you deposit.

What Stake pays on its own: $100,000 daily races, a $75,000 weekly raffle, the VIP bonuses and the Challenges board. Clause 12.10 cancels an unclaimed bonus after its claiming period or 60 days, whichever is shorter, so claim what lands.

Clause 12.3 says cash balance is always wagered before bonus balance. A bonus waits until your own money is spent.

The VIP ladder

The VIP Club page prints the wager each rank needs. Wager means the total you bet, win or lose. These are the four cards on the page:

  1. Bronze, $10k wageredWeekly and monthly bonuses, rakeback and level-up bonuses.
  2. Silver, $50k wageredThe Bronze list plus bonus growth.
  3. Gold, $100k wageredThe same perk list as Silver on the card.
  4. Platinum I-III, $250k to $2.5M wageredAdds daily bonuses and a reload.
Stake VIP ranking system with Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum I-III wager thresholds
The VIP ranking card. Bronze at $10k, Silver at $50k, Gold at $100k and Platinum I-III from $250k to $2.5M wagered, with the perks under each.

The rank line runs on past the fourth card, and this screen does not print the ranks above Platinum III. Ladders quoted for Stake elsewhere do not match this card, so plan on the four ranks you can see.

Put the thresholds in money. At a 1% house edge, $10,000 wagered costs about $100 in expected loss. At 4% it costs about $400. The same rank is four times cheaper to reach on a low-edge game.

The Challenges board

Challenges is a board of slot targets. Each card names a game, a multiplier, a minimum bet and a prize. The first player to hit the multiplier at or above that bet takes the prize. Each card also shows the account that created it.

Stake Challenges board with multiplier targets, minimum bets and prizes on six slot cards
The Challenges board. Each card reads first to hit a multiplier with a minimum bet, with the prize and the creator under it.

Read the numbers before you chase one. Odin's Vault asked for 25,000x on a $0.10 bet for a $420 prize. That spin would pay $2,500 on its own. Haunted Duels had two cards: 5,000x at $0.15 for $150, and 75,000x at $0.05 for $175. Hellsiege asked for 2,500x at $0.50 for $100.

Only the first hit takes the prize. A card can be claimed while you play, so check it is still open before you raise a bet for it. The board changes daily.

Stake Originals

The Stake Originals tab showed 24 tiles on its first three rows, with more below the fold. Each tile shows how many people are playing it. At capture Mines led with 3,148 players, then Dice with 2,536 and Keno with 2,249.

Four of them have their own page on this site: Dice, Mines, Plinko and Hilo, each at 99.00% RTP on our card. The footer links a provably fair page where a finished round can be checked against its seeds. All four sit with the other house titles on our Original Games page.

House games and slots follow different rules here. Clause 10.5 lets Stake adjust the house edge of any slot without notice, and tells you to ask support when the in-game RTP and the house edge disagree. Open the game info panel before a long slot session.

Slots, live tables and Enhanced RTP

The casino menu splits the shelf into rows. On the day we read the lobby, the trending row carried Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, Odin's Vault, Big Bass Rock And Roll and Big Bass Vegas 1000, and an Only on Stake card promoted Rise of Agartha.

Stake prints no total game count on the pages we read, and the counts printed about it elsewhere run from about a thousand to more than four thousand. We print none. Use Publishers to filter by studio. Use the Enhanced RTP row if return matters to you, and confirm the figure inside each game.

The personal rows at the top of the menu, Saved Games, Following, Continue Playing and Games For You, fill in once you play. They are the fastest way back to a game you rated.

The sportsbook

Sports sits next to Casino in the header and uses the same balance. The left rail lists Live Events, Starting Soon, All and My Bets, then the top sports. At capture 49 events were live.

We added up the 1x2 prices on the three top matches in the capture. Belgium v France at 3.10, 3.60 and 2.13 carries a 7.0% margin. Turkiye v Italy at 2.80, 3.35 and 2.39 carries 7.4%. Sweden v Poland at 1.98, 3.65 and 3.40 carries 7.3%. You will read lower margins claimed for Stake football lines. On these three matches the margin was above 7%.

The bar above each match shows where other players put their money. It is a crowd reading and says nothing about the chance of the result. Horse racing runs under its own Racing Rules page.

Deposits and withdrawals

Stake is built around crypto. Clause 7.9 puts the methods, the minimums and the limits for your country in the wallet itself. A card, where offered, buys coins through a third-party on-ramp. Coin counts printed about Stake disagree with each other, so read the list in your own wallet before you pick a coin.

  1. Deposit from a wallet you ownClauses 7.6 and 7.7: a third-party payment method is treated as fraud and can cost the deposit and the winnings.
  2. Match the coin and the networkSend the coin on the network printed next to the address. A transfer on the wrong chain may not be recoverable.
  3. Wager the deposit onceClauses 8.5 and 8.10: 100% of each deposit must be wagered before a withdrawal.
  4. Withdraw to your own addressClause 8.3 sends a withdrawal back through the deposit method unless Stake decides otherwise. Clause 8.9 allows a withdrawal fee at Stake's discretion, so read the confirm screen.
  5. Expect a check on a big ticketClause 8.12 allows extra KYC on any withdrawal. Clause 8.1 lets Stake hold it until your identity and the receiving account are confirmed.

Pick your exit coin before the first deposit. The wallet has a Vault for money you want kept away from play, and the footer links a guide on how to use it.

KYC and the account rules

These clauses decide whether a cashout leaves on time. We quote them because they apply to every player, whatever the size of the account.

  • KYC can be asked at any time to confirm identity and location. Service, payments and withdrawals can be restricted until it clears (clause 4.8)
  • Account data in the terms includes full name, date of birth and address (clause 4.2)
  • One account per person. A second account can see all accounts closed and the money retained (clause 4.9)
  • A VPN, a proxy or a false address used to pass the country block is a breach (clause 14.4). The site checks device data, geo-location, IP masking and blockchain activity (clause 5.1 g)
  • A deposit into a blocked or suspended account can be retained (clause 7.14)
  • Player funds are held in separate customer bank accounts and crypto wallets (clause 9.1)

Keep an ID scan and a recent proof of address in a folder before a large withdrawal. A check on a big ticket is normal on this desk.

Stake Smart and responsible play

The Responsible Gambling item opens Stake Smart. The page has five tabs: Stake Smart, Recognise the Signs, Responsible Gambling FAQ's, Self-Assessment and Budget Calculator. It opens with a mission statement and six tips.

Questions players ask

01Does Stake have a welcome bonus?

Not on the official pages we read. Review sites advertise their own Stake deals with their own codes, and those deals differ from site to site. What Stake pays itself is the VIP bonuses, $100,000 daily races, a $75,000 weekly raffle and the Challenges board.

02How does the Stake VIP programme work?

Ranks follow total wager. Bronze needs $10k, Silver $50k, Gold $100k and Platinum I-III runs from $250k to $2.5M. Bronze brings weekly and monthly bonuses, rakeback and level-up bonuses. Silver and Gold add bonus growth, and Platinum adds daily bonuses and a reload.

03What are Stake Challenges?

Slot targets with a prize. Each card names a game, a multiplier, a minimum bet and the prize, and the first player to hit it takes the prize. At capture the board held 1.96K challenges on 513 games with $4.096M in prizes.

04Which Stake Originals can I play?

The first three rows show 24: Mines, Dice, Blackjack, Plinko, Limbo, Keno, Crash, Chicken, Hilo, Dragon Tower, Moles, Slide, Flip, Pump, Wheel, Snakes, Roulette, Baccarat, Tome of Life, Diamonds, Packs, Rock Paper Scissors, Drill and Prime Dice. Our pages for Dice, Mines, Plinko and Hilo each show 99.00% RTP.

05Is the RTP on Stake slots the studio figure?

Not guaranteed. Clause 10.5 lets Stake adjust the house edge of any slot at its discretion and without notice. Check the RTP in the game info panel, and ask support if it differs from the house edge shown.

06Do I need to wager my deposit before a withdrawal?

Yes. Clauses 8.5 and 8.10 ask for 100% of each deposit to be wagered before a fiat or crypto withdrawal.

07Does Stake ask for KYC?

It can at any time. Clause 4.8 allows KYC to confirm identity and location and lets Stake restrict payments and withdrawals until it clears. Clause 8.12 allows extra checks on any withdrawal.

08Is Stake licensed in the UK?

No. The licence is Curaçao Gaming Authority OGL/2024/1451/0918, and the United Kingdom is on the list of prohibited jurisdictions in clause 14.3.

09Can I use a VPN on Stake?

No. Clause 14.4 treats a VPN, a proxy or a false address used to pass the country block as a breach, and the site checks geo-location and IP masking.

10How good are the Stake sportsbook odds?

On the three top matches in our capture, the 1x2 prices carried a margin of 7.0% to 7.4%. Boosted odds cards run on selected NFL, soccer and Dota 2 markets. Compare a price with another book before a large single.

11How do I contact Stake support?

Live chat 24/7 when you are logged in, or support@stake.com. A help centre sits at help.stake.com.

12What responsible gambling tools does Stake have?

Stake Smart carries Recognise the Signs, an FAQ, a Self-Assessment and a Budget Calculator, and it lists loss limits and wager limits. The footer links a self-exclusion policy and Gamblingtherapy.org.

Alex's close

I play Stake with my own bankroll. Sports. Dice. Crash. When I cash out a normal ticket, the coins are in the wallet before I close the tab. A fat win is a slower desk. The house wants papers first. I keep a scan ready for those nights.

I sit here as a player. Ordinary cashouts leave at once. A large one waits on a check. I wrote 8.6 with that in mind.

Alex JovanovicCCR desk

I keep a second book at Duel. Tickets up to $100,000 have landed for me in the same breath. Above that line the house takes time. On those tickets they have not asked me for KYC. Open the Duel review if you want that desk.

Two books, one habit. I sign the score I can stand behind.

The verdict

Played and scored on the CCR desk

A deep lobby with a rulebook you should read

Stake earns its 8.6 on the lobby and the rewards. At least 24 house games sit on the Originals tab, the VIP card prints what each rank costs, and the Challenges board and the races pay without a welcome code. The sportsbook shares the balance and adds Same Game Multi and boosted odds cards. The marks come off in the terms. Clause 10.5 lets Stake move a slot house edge without notice. KYC can arrive at any time and holds a withdrawal until it clears. The 1x2 margin on three top matches sat above 7%. The management decision closes a dispute, and 45 jurisdictions are shut.

Sit down if

  • You play house games and want two dozen of them on one tab
  • You wager enough to climb a VIP ladder with printed thresholds
  • You like chasing multiplier targets on the Challenges board
  • You want casino and sport on one crypto balance
  • You are ready to show ID on a large cashout

Walk past if

  • You want a welcome match on your first deposit
  • You need a UK, MGA or other local licence
  • You want a fixed, published RTP on every slot
  • You hunt low-margin football prices
  • You sit in a closed jurisdiction, or you use a VPN

I keep Stake for the Originals and the sports tab. I check the RTP panel before a slot session, I skip the challenge cards with targets above 10,000x, and I keep my papers ready for the day a big ticket asks for them.
